Hi,
I have a late-2011 MBP running High Sierra and I'd like to install the latest version of iMovie that's compatible with it. I managed to install iMovie 9.0.9 from Apple's website (that's the latest version they offer) but there's no option to update it? When I click 'Check for Updates' from within the app it says that it's already the latest. iMovie 9.0.9 is not entirely compatible with operating systems from El Capitan and later, including High Sierra. Lots of
issues have been reported.
You can use iDVD with latest version of iMovie (iMovie 10.1.8) and High Sierra. It just doesn't have the feature of a direct upload to iDVD. What you do is share your movie to your desktop and then drag it into an iDVD open project window. As for using 2 montors, you should be able to do that as well. Where have you heard information to the contrary?
In any event, if you decide to update to current iMovie you still can keep iMovie 9.0.9 on your computer and use it to whatever extent it will function with High Sierra.

“Hi all, I’ve recently updated to iMovie 10.1.8 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.1. I have a bundle of AVCHD MTS clips shot on a Canon camera. After imported these AVCHD files into this new updated iMovie, there is no sound at all. I can play them fine in VLC media player without any audio lost issue. Is there a solution to solve the problem? Please advice. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.”
